This beginner boating class will give you the basic knowledge needed to obtain a Boating Safety Certificate in Michigan. Topics include an introduction to boating, boating laws, required safety equipment, boat handling, navigation aids, avoiding common boating mistakes, trailering, and watersports safety.


Completion of the course includes a laminated wallet-sized Boating Safety Certificate.


This certificate is a legal state requirement for all Personal Watercraft operators born after 1978 as well as any watercraft operator born after July 1, 1996.


The minimum age to take the course is 12.


The course fee is $40 and includes all study materials, written test and completion certificates.
